A Lightweight, Tough Open Canoe

The Nova Craft Prospector 15 is one of the best multi purpose lightweight open canoes, available in a choice of materials to suit your needs and budget. With a shallow arched hull the Nova Craft Prospector 15 gives great initial stability for both the new and experienced paddler. A moderate rocker from bow to stern gives the boat great agility meaning this great all round canoe and spin quickly on the water - in the right hands. Ideal for taking you, a friend and your picnic lunch or your pet out for the day around lakes or on flat water rivers. It's also at home running through some low level whitewater rapids, however as with all composite construction canoes you need to be careful if attempting this.

With nice high freeboard (the sides of the canoe) it will deflect water giving a drier ride than other canoes. The Prospector 15 has a perfect symmetrical design making it easy to paddle as both solo or as a tandem open boat. This lightweight canoe has plenty of room for 2 paddlers and some kit for an overnight camping trip, although if you wanted a boat so you can go on extended longer paddling trips we would recommend the Nova Craft Prospector 16.

Materials

• TuffStuff: A composite material made of basalt and Innegra fibers. When they are woven together into a cloth and infused with our high impact vinylester resin system, the result is simply amazing! TuffStuff canoes are a great choice for paddlers looking for a light canoe.
  
• TuffStuff Expedition: A robust heavier duty version of the standard TuffStuff construction. These canoes are an excellent choice for an expedition grade canoe for extended trips and occasional lower-grade whitewater use. Stiffer for even greater performance, incredible impact resistance and lightweight all in one canoe.
• Blue Steel: An aramid and carbon fibre hybrid material. These canoes are light and strong. Not only is the look of carbon fiber cloth very appealing but the carbon fibers add stiffness to the hull to increase paddling efficiency. Adding an inner layer of Innegra and infusing these hulls with high impact resistant vinylester resin makes a very rugged canoe. Blue Steel canoes are most at home in flatwater scenarios
