Wave Sport Hydra 125 and 125 LV

A sporty touring kayak for coastal or inland waters

A compact and easy to handle kayak that has all the great features that have made the longer version a well-respected sporty touring choice. The 125 is available in Standard Volume and Low Volume versions which lets you choose one that suits your build. Both models share the same features and paddling characteristics, however the fit in the cockpit of the LV is more snug to suit to lighter and smaller paddlers. The reach to the day pod and the front of the cockpit has been reduced a little making it easier to grab a snack and to fit and release the spraydeck too.

Being more compact than the 145 this model is more agile on the water while the hull has been carefully designed to provide maximum glide. This easy to handle cruiser is able to take on complex waters if needed and has plenty of storage space for compact camping kit for a few days away. In this size the Hydra is easy to store, carry and car top.

The Hydra 125 has a little more width around the cockpit area than the 145. This provides great stability and increases the responsiveness when edging. Once on edge there is more curve along the waterline helping you carve that turn. The refined hull shape and rocker profile, along with carving chines and well-defined rails provide reassuringly precise feel and plenty of control. These hull features make the Wave Sport Hydra 125 a great player in the surf zone. It is also an ideal choice for exploring rocky shorelines, especially if you like getting into the gullies and remote coves. For its length it is surprisingly efficient on open water and will eat up the miles whether on the sea or inland waterways.

For a compact kayak the Hydra 125 has an impressive turn of speed and its sweet spot for cruising is only fractionally lower than the longer model. This is a kayak that is suitable for experienced paddlers and will also suit those transiting from sit on top paddling to take their first steps into more serious paddling. It is a great kayak to learn advanced paddling strategies and self rescue and rolling too. If you are a novice you will find the Hydra 125 is a kayak you can just get in a paddle from day 1 and will stay with you for many years as your skills develop.
