Corelite Highly Capable Touring Sea Kayaks
The Scorpio II hull profile is the same as the Cetus and offers great stability with a smooth and efficient ride. The slender bow is designed to cut through choppy seas and transitions towards a highly stable, slight 'V' body with rounded chines in the central area. You will find it copes with surf launches very well and rides up and over offshore groundwells with ease. Towards the stern the hull profile gradually narrows down to a tighter V, while along the keel line there is just enough rocker to make this an agile kayak without impacting on speed.
Above the water, the Scorpio's deck has been designed around the requirements of modern sea kayakers. There is a plethora of additional details such as recesses for Silva 70P Compass and for secure split paddle storage, moulded-in inserts to take a kayak sail mast foot. On the rear deck is a large oval hatch and a smaller day hatch each accessing bulkhead storage areas and on the front deck there is a large circular hatch again to access bulkhead storage space. Within easy reach of the paddler there is a mini 'snack' hatch just un front of the cockpit coaming. This four hatch set up makes it easy to organise overnight gear.
Available in Scarlet or Tahoe Blue, with the option of Low, Medium and High Volume builds and supplied as standard with a very effective retractable skeg. The skeg control slider is mounted where it is easy to reach and placed to avoid any interference during paddle strokes. No other polyethylene sea kayak on the market is as fully featured and expedition-ready as this. Whether you are out for a leisurely wander along the coast on gentle waters for a picnic on a secluded spot or heading off for a multi-week expedition the Scorpio II will not fail to please.
