The Valley Etain RM is a UK made expedition sea kayak capable of taking on multi-week trips but also great for those day trips where you won’t be carrying a full load. The design of the Etain aims to ensure that key characteristics such as speed, stability and good tracking aren’t greatly affected by variations in load. The Etain RM is available in two sizes which between them cover recommended capacities from 65.5 – 135 Kg.

The long waterline and carefully distributed hull profile has a shallow V under the paddler’s hips and gradually becomes more acute towards the bow and stern. This provides the Etain RM with a predictable and balanced feel no matter what the sea conditions or whether empty or laden. Rocker is gentle in order to maintain great straight-line tracking when eating up the miles while also being sufficient to provide decent manoeuvrability when needed.

The storage pod just in front of the cockpit is ideal for small items that you might always want close to hand such as glasses, snacks, map compass etc. There is a bow bulkhead storage compartment and two bulkhead storage areas in the stern to help with organisation of kit. The smaller day hatch is located close enough to the rear of the cockpit to be used while paddling solo on gentle waters. Other features of the Etain RM include a locking point situated behind the cockpit and special attention given to cockpit ergonomics which are very important during long hours afloat.

The Etain RM retains all the features of the composite model. The triple layer rotomoulded (RM) construction provides a rigid and impact resistant hull. This enables the paddler to cover long distances on open water while also being tough enough for worry free paddling when exploring rocky shorelines or if you need to land on remote boulder strewn beaches!
