Tandem Inflatable Kayak with Drop Stitch Floor
The Gumotex Thaya is a premium quality inflatable kayak offering excellent performance. Using the latest Nitrilon Drop-Stitch technology the Thaya maintains a high-pressure rigid hull base for increased paddling performance on the water. This also allows for lower volume side tubes which are less prone to catching the wind than most other inflatables. The Thaya is a great choice for paddling trips on calm waters, exploring inland waterways or sheltered bays and estuaries. It can also be used in 'light' moving water such as small surf, slow moving rivers and gentle white-water up to grade 2.
Designed with the family in mind the Thaya performs well for solo paddling with a seat in a central position to maintain good trim while paddling or it takes only a few minutes to fit two seats to go tandem. An optional third seat can be fitted to take an additional small passenger. The seats also feature drop-stitch construction, providing a firm and supportive backrest for comfortable paddling. If you want a more relaxed feel to the seats then just don't pump them up to capacity and you will find they are still firm but a little softer and gentler.
The Thaya packs down into a rucksack style transport bag for easy carrying and storage. The transport bag is a 'dry bag' so if you are in a hurry to head home after your paddle you can bundle everything into the bag and it won't leak into your vehicle. The transport bag is also ideal for carrying the Thaya to and from less accessible waters and can make portage between separate waterways easier too. The rigidity of the drop stitch floor, the light weight, durability and portability make the Thaya a very a popular choice for recreational paddlers and for our more adventurous customers looking for a suitable kayak for expeditions.
The Dropstitch technology works by connecting of the upper and lower layers of the floor fabric with many thousands of polyester fibres. The drop-stitch floor is then bonded to the outer resistant Nitrilon® material for excellent durability and robustness. The drop-stitch floor allows for this chamber to be inflated to a high pressure, providing incredible rigidity, nearing that of a solid boat. Enjoy the convenience of a tough kayak that weighs only 17.5 kg and can easily be deflated and folded up for storage and transport!
